What's New Events Include:
- A "Relocation Celebration Open House" is scheduled for Thursday, January 26th from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Hope to see you there!
- A 70" TV screen is now installed in the Training Center in time for our first training seminar at our new facility. The "Basic Corrosion and Cathodic Protection" course is scheduled for February 21st, 2012. Dr. Zee, a NACE Certified Corrosion, Coatings, Materials Selection/Design and Cathodic Protection Specialist, and Geoff Rhodes, Matco's Corrosion Group Manager and a Cathodic Protection Technologist, will be teaching the one day seminar.
- Sensors to detect corrosion activity on the buried portions of transmission and distribution poles commonly used in the electric power industry, pipelines, or other structures are now available at Matco Services. Corrosion detection sensors provide an early warning system that corrosion may be taking place in areas that are unobserved unless extensive excavation is performed. This method is considered the most technologically advanced form of corrosion engineering and mitigation that can be used to identify structures at risk of corrosion.
- New patents were acquired that involve methods to mitigate or sense corrosion, and materials testing to identify materials at risk of failure.
- Mr. Bernie Yonkovitz, the Fleet Metallurgist for US Airways, was selected for the "Distinguished Engineering Leadership" Award. This honor was bestowed upon him on December 10th, 2011 at our annual Christmas party. This award is given to an outstanding client that has demonstrated a long term commitment to elevate and uphold public health, safety and welfare by applying the concepts of materials testing and or corrosion engineering to reduce or eliminate structures or components at risk of failure.
- Mr. Charlie Miller, Matco's Senior Metallographic Technician, was given the "People's Choice" Award. This first time ever award was bestowed upon him on December 10th at our annual Christmas party in recognition of his tremendous work ethic, perseverance, resourcefulness, and his willingness to help anyone in need.
- Mr. Walter Gretz, one of our most respected engineers of all time, was given the coveted "Walter Gretz" Award in honor of his outstanding achievements and contributions to Matco over the years.
