Job Responsibilities:

Metallurgical Engineer will be required to perform failure analysis including root cause determinations.  Duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Travel to client sites to analyze site of failures.  Travel will mainly occur in the continental United States
• Perform failure analysis  on a project basis which includes:
  • Proposal writing
  • Effective client communication
  • Testing and analyzing test results
  • Identification of failure modes and root cause determinations
  • Report writing

Qualifications:

• BS Degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science – emphasis must be on metals
• A PE is desired but not required
• 5 - 10 yrs experience primarily in metallurgical engineering and failure analysis
• Must be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team when required.
• Effectively supervise and work with metallurgical technicians
• Must have computer skills and basic proficiency with the following software:
  • MS Word
  • MS Excel
  • MS Powerpoint
• Able to use a digital camera
• Proficient with the use of metallurgical equipment
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must pass a criminal background check including a DUI check. Must have a clear criminaI record and no DUI within the past ten years.

Job Overview:

Matco Services, Inc. serves as the inspection, material testing and research and development arm of Valmont Newmark.  Matco will provide an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, small business environment while receiving the support of our large global parent corporation. An engineering assistant position is available for a self-motivated, energetic, creative engineer in our inspection division. Applicant must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally and be able to work both individually and as a project team member. Job Responsibilities:

Engineering assistant will assist and report to lead project engineers and will perform engineering, data management and office tasks in the field of corrosion engineering and failure analysis.  This position will focus heavily on data management.  Prolonged travel to project sites within and outside of the US may be necessary.  Excellent advancement potential. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Design and manage data collection, storage, and reporting procedures.  This will require working knowledge of relational databases.
• Assist with logistical work in support of large-scale inspection projects. This may require prolonged travel to project locations.
• Assist in performing engineering calculations and assessments.
• Travel to project sites to perform detailed inspections, collect test data and take photographs.
• Generate cost proposals.
• Communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients and perspective clients. 

Qualifications:

• BS Degree – Engineering Sciences, Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering preferred
• Two years experience
• Proficient with GIS software and relational database programs such as ArcGIS and MS Access
• Professional experience with field and/or laboratory testing.
• Experience with working on a project team.
• Must have a valid US drivers license and clean driving record.
• Must have clear criminal record.

Job Responsibilities:

This position performs work to inspect and collect data for poles, lattice, transmission towers, telecommunication towers and related structures. Field Technicians will be required to travel throughout the United States and Canada and conduct field testing through the application of special methods utilizing field testing equipment.  Applicants must be able to travel continuously for a few weeks, beginning May and returning October possibly earlier.  Ten hours of work will be performed each day including Saturdays.   

Successful candidates must reside in or re-locate to Pittsburgh, PA. or Fort Lauderdale, FL

Training will be provided.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Graduate
• Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions
• Read and record testing data via a computer/mechanized system
• Physically excavate sites through the use of small augers and shovels
• Take clear photographs with a digital camera
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive long distances to the sites
• Must pass a criminal background check including a DUI check. Must have a clear criminaI record and no DUI within the past ten years
• Basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications:

NACE Corrosion Level 1 Certificate. Knowledge of inspection methology to inspect poles and related structures for repair and/or replacement.
