Dr. Huiping Xu - Sr. Materials Characterization Specialist

Dr. Huiping Xu, Senior Materials Characterization Specialist has over 10 years of experience in micro-characterization of materials using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. He specialized in materials characterization, paint and coating evaluation, electrochemical corrosion testing (e.g. electrochemical impedance spectroscopy) and failure analysis. Currently, he has applied these skills to studies of metal plating, paint and coating degradation, metal and alloy corrosion, corrosion testing of soil, electrochemical evaluation of grease, galvanic testing and evaluation (e.g. brake pads) and failure analyses (e.g. poles, boiler tubes, compressor blades, turbine blades, etc.).

Dr. Xu is also served as a Manager, Chinese Marketing and Technical Consulting. Dr. Xu, from mainland of China, can converse in both Chinese and English. This enables him to provide assistance to clients to resolve trade conflicts, materials disputes, and litigation issues that may arise between Chinese and American corporations. Dr. Xu can provide support as an expert witness or as a third party consultant. For examples, Dr. Xu has been working with our client from China on electrochemical evaluation of CoCr stents. In addition, Dr. Xu has been working with clients from international, for instance, the client from Mexico regarding turbine blades failure analysis) and the one from Germany regarding compressor blades failure analysis.

Dr. Xu's degrees include a B.S. in metal physics from JILIN University, Changchun, P.R. of China, an M.S. in condensed metal physics, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in condensed matter physics from Nanjing University, Nanjing, P.R. of China.

Dr. Xu is a member of MRS, TMS, MSA and ASM; and an active reviewer for Applied Physics Letter, Journal of Applied Physics, IEEE on Transactions of Magnetics and Materials.

Dr. Xu has been a co-author of one book chapter, an author of 19 journal and proceeding papers published, and an invited speaker for conference and research presentations.
