Meet Kevin Groll - Mechanical Engineer 

Kevin Groll started his professional career at Matco Associates as a mechanical engineer in May 2004. He was previously employed at Matco as a laboratory technician and intern. Mr. Groll earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University where he participated in the design and construction of a hybrid SUV for the Ford Future Truck competition. He has had extensive experience performing a variety of failure investigations and is proficient in laboratory testing techniques such as scanning electron microscopy, electrochemistry, metallographic microscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.

Mr. Groll is a NACE Certified Corrosion Technician, and has performed studies on microbiologically induced corrosion, galvanic corrosion resistance of coatings, and chloride and sulfate induced types of corrosion on different metals. He has also performed onsite evaluations of custom mechanical testing for a variety of mechanical structures, and is currently involved in the investigation of causes and corrective actions of weld cracking on structural steel poles used for traffic signal and street light mounting. His other major projects involve oversight of a project for a major government agency and the development of an electrochemical sensor to be used in the titanium manufacturing industry. Mr. Groll is also a certified Engineer Intern studying under Professional Engineer Walter Gretz.
