Pole and Signage Repair
Corrosion damage due to peeling paint on traffic and lighting poles is one of the most often observed forms of damage encountered by these structures. If repairs are not undertaken, there is an ever increasing risk that metal loss of the underlying steel substrate will take place that can potentially lead to pole collapse, property damage, or worse yet, bodily harm. In these avoidable circumstances, litigation is often the course of action pursued by injured parties.

Poles with damaged coatings that expose the underlying steel substrate will often exhibit their first signs of damage due to corrosion within the first several years from the date of instation. Experience tells us that routine maintenance, monititoring and repair to damaged coatings on steel pole structures will increase the life expectancy of these structures exponentially.
Matco Services provides an assortment of services especially geared towards maintaining traffic and lighting poles and other structures types that includes an initial site inspection to determine the extent and degree of corrosion or paint coating failure. Once this is ascertained, a cost proposal is provided that takes into consideration the variations that may exist within these parameters and the recommendations for remediation to repair damaged poles. This effort is completed, once a project is underway, by Matco's Field Service Technicians. Throughout the repair of damaged paint coatings a log is kept that details the time of day, temperature, humidity and other key indexes to ensure that paint coating application is performed under the best possible environmental circumstances. Quality assurance tests are also performed to ensure adhesion, coating thickness and other key parameters are in order and performed in accordance with designated ASTM, NACE, SSPC or other technical standards considered relevant give the conditions that are in effect.
Life expectancy determinations, corrosion risk assessments, coating systems designed for corrosive environments, or any of the other commonly performed procedures that are designed to reduce the possibility of damaged coatings that will ultimately result in loss of service life are just a phone call away at Matco Services, Omaha Branch. Please feel free to contact either Carl Kempkes, the Director of the repair side of Matco Services, or Doug Leland, the Manager of Administration & Strategic Accounts, for a cost proposal or site inspection.
